Cricket has seen its great lover, though Cover Drive I will talk about some of these brilliant people, who have really played with straight bat in life, ( Straight Forward honest people in life) they have never left any loose delivery, and given full respect to the good one, of such Personality, through Cover Drive being discussed in this issue, Personality ,we will be showcasing is very near to my heart, Great Cricket Lover, Amazing human being, successful loving caring and top of it, wonderful friend, however, he is very senior to me, well.. well.. I can go on and on, for discussing him, but you all get bored with that, therefore, I need to announce his Name Let me introduce this great Personality with you all, he is Versatile.
Mr. J.K Mahindra, Cricket Lover, First Ranji Trophy Player of South India, First Player of South India to Represent India Juniors in the year-1967, where he was played with Legends like, Gundappa Vishwanath, Sunil Gavaskar, and many others.
He is currently 63 of age , dashing, handsome young Man, born in Kannur, Kerala, very popular textile merchant apart from his professional ventures , his world known love for Cricket is beyond compare.
He has created a Cricket memorabilia at his home, has collected a lot of things, like Ceramic plates, with Autographs of Many leading Indian Cricketers, on Postal Covers, Books, Stamps, statues of Cricket players , more then 500 Cricket bats, key Chains. He grew up playing cricket and listening about the old time popular cricket legends.
He was in the boy’s cricket team and loved to play cricket a lot. He also visited many states in India and out of India and collected photographs and autographs as well. When he came back home, he prepared a scrapbook of all the photographs collected. His business and his passion for cricket led him to visit many places in India and abroad as well. Later he started exchanging things in UK, Australia and South Africa and received an Aluminium Bat which was used by one of the Australian bowlers Dennis Lillee in a Cricket Match which was against England in 1979.
His house in Bengaluru virtually a Museum of Cricket. His collection attracts many people. His collection got shifted to the Coffee Shop which was set up by him in Egmore. He has wide variety of Cricket Memorabilia Collection list includes , Cricket bats, Key Chains Original Autograph Pictures of many Indian and International Cricketers, and many other exciting Cricket Gear etc.
Many famous cricketers Dennis Lili, Sreesanth and Salim Durrani have visited the place and J K Mahindra J K Mahindra himself has won Ranji Trophy.
He was first Director Levi’s in India and associated with many Brands, he has done Modelling and acted in Films, till date he is very energetic, he has been associated with Veteran Cricket Board in India for more then 2 Decades,, Board for Veteran Cricket in India, which was started in the year-1988, by great Indian Cricketer Late Shri. Chetan Chauhan Sahib, he was very close to him, thereby he had organised many tour for veteran Cricketers in India and Abroad, he took the Indian Veteran team to Sri lanka, Pakistan etc.
I have been a great fan of him personally, whenever you meet him, you get to hear so many Cricket Stories of yesteryears of Cricket and its Stars, he has represented First Indian Junior team in the year -1967, Veteran Cricket in India reaching towards newer heights, since the IVPL( Indian Veteran Premier League) has been announced in the month of November-2023, which is definitely going to a big Veteran Cricket Success in India, When, we spoke , he has categorically mentioned, “ IVPL is going to get huge success in India, he has given very optimistic view, that, Once a Player gets retired from BCCI, then they will become members of BVCI for playing their Passion for the rest of their life, as they may get retire, but Cricket never dies in them, most of them take Veteran Cricket, for obvious reasons, one to get connected to their community, secondly they will still be playing for living their passion also to increase brotherhood amongst their community”
A true legend and Goodwill ambassador of Cricket, who has been breathing cricket all the time, very stylish, he has a great dressing sense, excellent communicator , great entertainer, He is the fan of Gary Sobers and Vivian Richards who are West Indian Cricketers. Mahindra still wants to expand his collection as he is now retired.. He also wants tall his collections to be in a museum and he is ready to sell his collection if the authorities would like to set up a museum for them. His collection is rare and it will help the youth a lot.
