This Issue brings Spotlight on Padma Bhushan Dr. Trilochan Singh Kler – India’s most celebrated & Successful Indian Interventional Cardiologist, medical administrator, writer, born in Amargarh, State of Punjab, graduated in Medicine from Punjab University in the year 1976, later on completed his MD in general medicine from (PGIMER) Post Graduate institute of Medical Education & Research in 1980, he further added another feather on his educational cap by with the degree of DM in cardiology from (PGIMER)’ he worked in Saudi Arabia established a Cardiology Unit in one of tertiary care Centre , he proceeded to do his MRCP from UK before returning to India.

Dr. T. S. Kler has been instrumental of writing many articles on interventional cardiology, The Govt of India awarded him the Third Highest Civilian Award Padma Bhushan in the year -2005, his contribution in the Filed of medicine.

 Some People make the World Special just by adding their humble presence,  Dr. T.S.Kler is one of those whose Persona inspire lives all the time Great Human being , Man with a Golden heart is currently working as Chairman, Fortis Heart and Vascular Institute at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, a Native of proud Punjab, Punjabi by heart.

Let us understand this Amazing Personality little deeper in order to go through various facets of his life, to begin with his  Classic Educational journey, which makes him one of India’s Finest Doctor, Dr. Kler, who has completed his MBBS from Medical college, Patiala and MD in Medicine & DM in Cardiology from PGI Chandigarh.

He  has successfully completed his MRCP from UK & then came back to his Motherland  India in the year 1989 & he was one of the founding doctors of Escorts Heart Institute, alongwith Dr. Naresh Trehan where he spent 28 years & was its Executive Director for last 12 years of his stay.

He is also Fellow of Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), UK and Fellow of American College of Cardiology (FACC).

He is lifetime member of IMA, CSI, ICC, API, IHRS, & HRS. His last assignment was with PSRI Hospital, New Delhi as Chairman- PSRI Heart Institute.

Dr. Kler is a revolutionary & very active  interventional cardiologist and has performed more than 25,000 coronary, renal, carotid & peripheral angioplasties.

He is pioneer in electrophysiology & he established the first dedicated Electrophysiology department in India at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute.

 He initiated radio Frequency Ablations programme at Escorts in 1993. He was the first doctor in India to implant an ICD, CRT-P & CRT-D. He also did the first HIS bundle pacing in India in 2015.

He was instrumental in starting RF Ablation & cardiac devices implantation programme in many Centres not only in India, even other parts of Asia too, to name a few are: Bangladesh, Nepal, Srilanka & Pakistan.

He has about 150 National & International journal articles to his name & has been on the editorial board of Indian Heart Journal. Dr. Kler is regularly invited as a guest faculty to various National & International

Dr. Kler’s services to the people of this country have been recognized by society. He has been awarded many awards, Prominent being D.Sc (Honoris Causa) by Punjab University, Chandigarh, Life time achievement award by Indian Medical Association & above all Padma Bhushan by govt of India in 2005. In 2014, he was honoured with Delhi Medical Association Centenary Award. Received Times Health Care Achievers Awards in 2017 in the category “Legends of Medicine.

Whenever I met him in person, one gets so inspired, a Very Humble man, his simple nature and typical common man approach sets him apart, he has been an inspiration all the time.

A Complete Family Man

His Wife Dr. Neelam Kler, was born in Srinagar J&K , had her schooling in the Presentation Convent-Srinagar.

She holds a master’s Degree in Paediatrics from (PIGMER) Postgraduate institute of medical Profession Chandigarh , then she further got training neonatology , She also went to Copenhagen ,Denmark on a Fellowship for advanced studies on the subject.

 She  is now a Leading India neonatologist, known for her Exemplary work in the field of Neonatal intensive care and ventilation, she has successful track record for neonatal care to better the survival rate of extremely tiny preterm babies( less then 1000 grams)

Govt of India honoured her for her great work by giving away third highest civilian Award Padma bhushan in the year-2014, for the Services in the fields of Medicine & neonatology.
